Artist's Comments

My original idea for a city view was going to be a central park type setting in the center of the city (100 Dystopia blocks put together above), but when I accidentally switched cameras to one of my 'construction' cameras I thought the city may look good as a waterfront view so this is the result.

I'm not quite sure why there are shadows being cast into the atmosphere from the back left since there's no additional light source but it wasn't noticeable in my preview renders as I built the scene. I could also be doing with reducing the light being reflected off the side of the cargo ship, its a little intense.

Ships and the wakes I used on the battle ship came from artist-3d.com [link]

Created and rendered in Vue 7

I thought it was a photo at first, but then, no ship has a red waterline marker that clean and rust free!

yeah and the excessive highlighting on the red area doesn't help either :P

Thanks

maybe select the red area and desaturate it some. if there is any way to add discoloration and rust areas that would help. I live close to the Houston ship channel and I see ships go by all the time, so its a red flag to me to see perfect red on a ship. It's either been newly painted, or its CIG!

Your sceen is photoperfect other than that. I love the splash at the prow of the other ship.

Since there's an atmospheric anomaly I'll redo the scene anyway so I can just reduce the highlight intensity/size of the texture on the hull of the ship, and try and add a little noise or a new material layer to emulate rust. I'd rather do it directly in the scene since I dislike post working images apart from slight brightness/contrast/sharpening actions if needed (and adding my name ofc)

Yeah, I think the waterside city works good, especially since it's a little futuristic. Nice atmosphere and lighting too - very calm and soft :relaxed:
